Muslims (The Non-Wicked)
"We will remove whatever bitterness they had in their hearts. They will be on thrones, facing one another as brothers."
— Surah Al-Hijr (15:47)
The Foremost
"They are the ones nearest to Allah, in the Gardens of Bliss. A multitude from earlier generations, and a few from later generations. ˹They will be˺ on jewelled thrones, reclining face to face. They will be waited on by eternal youths, with cups, pitchers, and a drink ˹of pure wine˺ from a flowing stream — causing no headache or intoxication — and with fruit of their choice, and meat of any bird they desire. And ˹they will have˺ maidens with gorgeous eyes, like pristine pearls, as a reward for what they used to do. They will not hear any idle talk there, nor any sinful speech — only greetings of peace."
— Surah Al-Waqiah (56:11–26)
People of the Right
"And the people of the right — how blessed will the people of the right be! They will be among thornless lote trees, clusters of bananas, extended shade, flowing water, abundant fruit — never out of season nor forbidden — and elevated furnishings. Indeed, We will have perfectly created their mates, making them virgins, loving and of equal age, for the people of the right — a multitude from earlier generations, and a multitude from later generations."
— Surah Al-Waqiah (56:27–40)
"The Jews and Christians each say, 'Follow our faith to be rightly guided.' Say, O Prophet, 'No! We follow the faith of Ibrahim, the upright, who was not a polytheist.'"
— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:135)
The Heights
"As for those who believe and do good — We will never require of any soul more than what it can afford — it is they who will be the residents of Paradise. They will be there forever. We will remove whatever bitterness they had in their hearts. Rivers will flow under their feet. And they will say, 'Praise to Allah for guiding us to this. We would have never been guided if Allah had not guided us. The messengers of our Lord had certainly come with the truth.' It will be announced to them, 'This is the Paradise awarded to you for what you used to do.'"
— Surah Al-A'raf (7:42–43)
"The residents of Paradise will call out to the residents of the Fire, 'We have certainly found our Lord's promises to be true. Have you too found your Lord's promises to be true?' They will reply, 'Yes! We have.' Then a caller will announce to both, 'May Allah's condemnation be upon the wrongdoers — those who hindered others from Allah's way, strived to make it appear crooked, and disbelieved in the Hereafter.'"
— Surah Al-A'raf (7:44–45)
"There will be a barrier between Paradise and Hell. And on the heights of that barrier will be people who will recognize the residents of both by their appearance. They will call out to the residents of Paradise, 'Peace be upon you!' They will have not yet entered Paradise, but eagerly hope to. When their eyes will turn towards the residents of Hell, they will pray, 'Our Lord, do not join us with the wrongdoing people.' Those on the heights will call out to some of the tyrants in the Fire, whom they will recognize by their appearance, saying, 'Your large numbers and arrogance are of no use today. Are these humbled believers the ones you swore would never be shown Allah's mercy?' Finally, those on the heights will be told, 'Enter Paradise — there will be no fear for you, nor will you grieve.' The residents of the Fire will then cry out to the residents of Paradise, 'Aid us with some water or any provision Allah has granted you.' They will reply, 'Allah has forbidden both for the disbelievers — those who took this faith of Islam as mere amusement and play and were deluded by their worldly life.' Allah will say, 'Today We will ignore them just as they ignored the coming of this Day of theirs, and for rejecting Our revelations.'"
— Surah Al-A'raf (7:46–51)
"Every soul will be detained for what it has done — except the people of the right, who will be in gardens, asking one another about the wicked, who will then be asked: 'What has landed you in Hell?'"
— Surah Al-Muddaththir (74:38–42)
"Then they were succeeded by generations who neglected prayer and followed their desires, so they will soon face the consequences. Except those who repent, believe, and do good. It is they who will enter Paradise and will not be wronged in the least. They will enter the Gardens of Eternity which the Most Compassionate has promised His servants in the unseen. Surely His promise must come to pass. There they will hear no more sinful or idle talk — only greetings of peace. And they will have their provision morning and evening. That is Paradise which We will grant to those of Our servants who are mindful ˹of Allah˺."
— Surah Maryam (19:59–63) · Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran
"And We truly know best who is most deserving of burning in it. There is none of you who will not pass over it. This is a decree from your Lord you must fulfil."
— Surah Maryam (19:70–71)
